Curry Leaves (Neem)

Apart from adding flavour to dishes, these are very effective in the treatment of diarrhoea and indigestion.

Medicinal Properties

  • Diabetes due to hereditary factors/ Obesity:
    Chew 10-12 fresh curry leaves every morning for a few months. Also avoid fatty foods, sweets and alcohol.
  • Diarrhoea/ Dysentry/ Piles:
    Mix the juice of 15-20 leaves with 1 tsp honey and drink.
  • Nausea/ Indigestion/ Stomach Upset:
    Make a paste of bunch of fresh leaves by adding 1 tsp tamarind, one fried red chilli and salt to taste. Eat with food. You can also extract juice from curry leaves and drink mixed with buttermilk.
  • Burns:
    Grind curry leaves. Tie in cloth and use as a bag over affected areas.
