Turn To Yoga:

Yoga increases muscle flexibility and helps reduce the impact of stress. Our muscles become tight when we are stressed. Yoga postures help to counteract those tightened muscles. What you can do:

  • Wear loose and comfortable clothing.
  • Remove shoes.
  • Practice the poses on a mat on the floor.

Bridge pose: Lie on your back on the floor. Bend your knees, pointing to the ceiling, and keep your feet flat. Keep your feet hip-width apart. Place your arms and palms down, next to your shoulders. No slowly lift your abdomen toward the ceiling. Your weight rest on your shoulders and the back of your neck and head. Breathe in and out of your abdomen. Hold this position for as long as you can. Slowly lower your back towards the floor. If you have back/ neck problems start slowly by lifting your back a few inches and then increase the height as your body becomes more flexible.

The Cat: Get down on all four. Place your hands and knees on the floor. Keep your arms and thighs perpendicular to the floor. As you exhale, pull your abs in, arch your back like a cat. Drop your head forward and your chin towards your chest. As you inhale, release your back so it moves downward. Raise your head and look straight ahead. Keep repeating both positions without pausing. Repeat 10 times.

Child's Pose: Kneel on the floor and sit with your buttocks on the heels. Lower your torso to your lap and rest your forehead on the floor. Place your arms next to your body with palms up. Hold this position for a few seconds. Relax and breathe normally.
